Project: Modular Pharmaceutical Hydrogenation Suite
Client: Multinational Pharmaceutical Company

Project Summary

This is an annex extension to an existing bulk-pharmaceutical plant (API), consisting of a Hydrogenation system plus associated prep and charge vessels, filters, etc. Design, specify and procure all equipment:

  • 2x8000L glass-lined carbon-steel (GLCS) vessels
  • Vessel hydrogenation system (sparge system for GLCS vessel) including emergency extract/hydrogen detection system
  • 1x500L GLCS charge tank
  • Reactor heating/cooling systems
  • Condensers
  • Pressure filters
  • Transfer and vacuum pumps
  • Manifold systems
  • Exhaust scrubber
  • Emergency relief receiver vessel
  • Bulk Hydrogen supply modules (remote from building)

Reactor relief system designed using DIERS method. Scope also to include provision of IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) heating system for product filling/transfer.

The building extension was constructed using modular construction methods off site. Building walls and floors constructed in workshop, with process equipment piped-up prior to shipment to site and all interconnecting piping preassembled in racks, for on-site assembly. Vessels fitted in situ.

ProsCon scope included:

  • Process Design
  • Mechanical design (piping, building layouts, fire-cert)
  • Demolition of existing building
  • E&I design
  • Equipment Procurement
  • Fabrication/Assembly
  • Validation
  • Start-up support
